This week we spent lots of time reading, writing, watching videos, and working on projects all centered around the Iditarod. The kids and I have really enjoyed learning about the race and all that goes into it. The gold rush towns that are abandoned along the trail, and the history of the 20 dog teams that ran critical medicine to Nome Alaska to end a Diphtheria outbreak in 1925.
At the end of this week we will celebrate this learning by hosting our own Ikidarod on Quincy’s playground. I am looking for any parents that would be interested in building or at the very least dropping off some sleds that have ropes attached to them for our race. Please email if you are interested!
